De plus, les concentrations de microplastiques dans les rivi\u00e8res situ\u00e9es dans les zones industrialis\u00e9es peuvent \u00eatre bien sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 celles observ\u00e9es dans les milieux marins.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les stations d&rsquo;\u00e9puration constituent une source importante de microplastiques dans les syst\u00e8mes continentaux. Les eaux us\u00e9es domestiques non trait\u00e9es contiennent des fibres provenant des v\u00eatements et des billes de microplastique provenant des produits d&rsquo;hygi\u00e8ne personnelle, qui sont de riches sources de pollution par les microplastiques. Bien que les stations d&rsquo;\u00e9puration retiennent une partie des microplastiques entrants dans les boues, des quantit\u00e9s importantes peuvent n\u00e9anmoins se retrouver dans l&rsquo;environnement, notamment lorsque les biosolides produits sont utilis\u00e9s comme engrais dans les champs agricoles. Des \u00e9tudes estiment que les terres agricoles europ\u00e9ennes re\u00e7oivent chaque ann\u00e9e entre 63\u00a0000 et 43\u00a0000 tonnes de microplastiques par l&rsquo;\u00e9pandage des boues.[7]<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les d\u00e9charges, les zones urbaines et les centres industriels contribuent \u00e9galement \u00e0 la pollution terrestre par les microplastiques. La perte accidentelle de particules, la mauvaise gestion des d\u00e9chets et la production de sols et d&rsquo;a\u00e9rosols contamin\u00e9s jouent tous un r\u00f4le dans l&rsquo;apport direct de microplastiques dans les environnements terrestres. De plus, les particules atmosph\u00e9riques peuvent transporter les microplastiques sur des distances consid\u00e9rables, entra\u00eenant une contamination loin de leur source d&rsquo;origine. Malgr\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence omnipr\u00e9sente de microplastiques dans les environnements terrestres, il existe un manque de m\u00e9thodes normalis\u00e9es pour mesurer et signaler leurs concentrations. Les techniques existantes telles que la filtration, la flottation et la s\u00e9lection visuelle pr\u00e9sentent des limites lorsqu&rsquo;elles sont appliqu\u00e9es aux syst\u00e8mes continentaux. Les m\u00e9thodes de filtration sous-estiment souvent la pr\u00e9sence de particules plus petites que l&rsquo;ouverture de la maille, tandis que la d\u00e9tection visuelle est limit\u00e9e par l&rsquo;erreur humaine et la pr\u00e9cision. De plus, les m\u00e9thodes de confirmation couramment utilis\u00e9es ont des limites de d\u00e9tection de taille qui excluent les particules nanoplastiques. L&rsquo;absence de m\u00e9thodes normalis\u00e9es et de donn\u00e9es sur la distribution granulom\u00e9trique entrave la quantification pr\u00e9cise des microplastiques dans les environnements Dans les stations d&rsquo;\u00e9puration des eaux us\u00e9es, les microplastiques peuvent transporter des organismes pathog\u00e8nes et opportunistes, agissant potentiellement comme vecteurs de transmission de maladies dans les syst\u00e8mes d&rsquo;eau douce. Dans les environnements domin\u00e9s par les particules, les microplastiques peuvent alt\u00e9rer la chimie du sol et affecter la condition physique et la fonction des organismes du sol. On a constat\u00e9 que les vers de terre et les collemboles, par exemple, transportent des microplastiques dans le sol, ce qui entra\u00eene des changements dans la structure du sol et les microbiomes intestinaux de ces organismes. Les microplastiques peuvent \u00e9galement perturber les interactions entre les plantes et les pollinisateurs, ce qui risque d&rsquo;affecter des fonctions \u00e9cologiques essentielles.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>L&rsquo;un des principaux impacts des microplastiques sur les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes est le tort qu&rsquo;ils causent \u00e0 la faune. De nombreux animaux prennent les microplastiques pour de la nourriture, ce qui entra\u00eene leur ingestion et des probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 potentiels tels que la famine, la suffocation et l&rsquo;enchev\u00eatrement[2]. Les animaux marins sont particuli\u00e8rement vuln\u00e9rables, car des microplastiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9s dans l&rsquo;estomac de poissons, d&rsquo;oiseaux et m\u00eame de baleines. Un autre impact des microplastiques sur les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes est la perturbation des r\u00e9seaux alimentaires. Les microplastiques peuvent absorber des polluants toxiques, tels que des pesticides et des produits chimiques industriels, qui sont ensuite transmis aux animaux qui les ing\u00e8rent. Cela peut avoir des effets en cascade sur des r\u00e9seaux alimentaires entiers, car les toxines s&rsquo;accumulent dans les niveaux trophiques sup\u00e9rieurs et peuvent entra\u00eener le d\u00e9clin de populations enti\u00e8res d&rsquo;animaux[3]. [Les biofilms microbiens associ\u00e9s aux microplastiques peuvent \u00e9galement avoir un impact n\u00e9gatif sur les r\u00e9cifs coralliens en favorisant la transmission d&rsquo;agents pathog\u00e8nes. Des \u00e9tudes ont \u00e9galement montr\u00e9 que les coraux consomment des microplastiques \u00e0 un taux d&rsquo;environ 50 \u03bcg de plastique par centim\u00e8tre carr\u00e9 et par heure, et que ces fragments de plastique ing\u00e9r\u00e9s peuvent \u00eatre retrouv\u00e9s dans le tissu m\u00e9sent\u00e9rique \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur de la cavit\u00e9 intestinale du corail. L&rsquo;ingestion de microplastiques par les coraux peut entra\u00eener la r\u00e9tention de fragments de plastique dans le tissu m\u00e9sent\u00e9rique, ce qui r\u00e9duit la capacit\u00e9 du corail \u00e0 obtenir des nutriments et diminue ses r\u00e9serves d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie[4]. Les microplastiques ont \u00e9galement des effets drastiques sur les planctons, qui sont une composante essentielle de la vie marine. Les planctons, y compris les phytoplanctons, les planctons h\u00e9t\u00e9rotrophes et les zooplanctons, sont tous affect\u00e9s par les microplastiques de diff\u00e9rentes mani\u00e8res.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les microplastiques peuvent avoir un impact n\u00e9gatif sur les phytoplanctons, qui sont responsables de la production d&rsquo;une grande partie de l&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne de la plan\u00e8te et qui sont \u00e0 la base de la cha\u00eene alimentaire marine. Des \u00e9tudes ont montr\u00e9 que les microplastiques peuvent r\u00e9duire la capacit\u00e9 des phytoplanctons \u00e0 absorber la chlorophylle, qui est essentielle \u00e0 leur survie et \u00e0 leur croissance. Cela peut en fin de compte affecter l&rsquo;ensemble de la cha\u00eene alimentaire marine et la sant\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an[5].<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les planctons h\u00e9t\u00e9rotrophes, qui consomment d&rsquo;autres planctons et de petits organismes, peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre affect\u00e9s par les microplastiques. Lorsqu&rsquo;ils entrent en contact avec des microplastiques, ils peuvent retenir les minuscules fragments de plastique dans leurs tissus. Les zooplanctons, qui sont les principaux consommateurs de la cha\u00eene alimentaire aquatique, sont \u00e9galement affect\u00e9s par les microplastiques. En raison de leur petite taille, les zooplanctons peuvent facilement ing\u00e9rer des microplastiques, ce qui peut entra\u00eener une diminution de leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 se nourrir et, en fin de compte, des effets n\u00e9gatifs sur leur sant\u00e9.
