Des \u00e9tudes ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 de fortes concentrations de microplastiques dans les zones c\u00f4ti\u00e8res, ainsi qu&rsquo;en haute mer. Une \u00e9tude du Programme des Nations Unies pour l&rsquo;environnement (PNUE) estime la pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;environ 51\u00a0000 milliards de particules de microplastiques dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an, pesant environ 268\u00a0940 tonnes.[3] Outre les oc\u00e9ans, des microplastiques ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9tect\u00e9s dans les syst\u00e8mes d&rsquo;eau douce. Une \u00e9tude de l&rsquo;Institut d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes g\u00e9ologiques des \u00c9tats-Unis (USGS) a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence de microplastiques dans 83\u00a0% des \u00e9chantillons pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s dans les rivi\u00e8res et les ruisseaux des \u00c9tats-Unis.[4]<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les d\u00e9bris plastiques, qui constituent jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 87\u00a0% des d\u00e9chets marins[5], ont des impacts n\u00e9gatifs importants sur les esp\u00e8ces et les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins. Les mati\u00e8res plastiques p\u00e9n\u00e8trent dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an par des sources terrestres, comme les d\u00e9chets et les eaux us\u00e9es, ainsi que par des sources oc\u00e9aniques, comme la p\u00eache et le transport maritime. Une fois dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an, les d\u00e9bris plastiques peuvent se d\u00e9placer entre diff\u00e9rents habitats, affectant chaque niveau trophique et cr\u00e9ant des zones d&rsquo;accumulation de plastique dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an. L&rsquo;introduction d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces invasives peut se produire par divers m\u00e9canismes, notamment l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 humaine, identifi\u00e9e comme un facteur important de propagation des esp\u00e8ces invasives par le transport maritime.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les microplastiques et les esp\u00e8ces invasives sont deux probl\u00e8mes environnementaux majeurs qui sont devenus des d\u00e9fis majeurs pour la communaut\u00e9 mondiale. Bien que distincts, ils partagent des points communs qui ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 un impact convergent sur les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins. Les microplastiques ont divers effets nocifs, notamment l&rsquo;enchev\u00eatrement et l&rsquo;ingestion par la vie marine et l&rsquo;introduction d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces invasives. Mais l&rsquo;\u00e9mergence de ces deux probl\u00e8mes convergents est li\u00e9e au transport d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces non indig\u00e8nes sur les plastiques, qui se fragmentent et flottent dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an pendant des ann\u00e9es, parcourant de vastes distances.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Les microplastiques peuvent alors servir de vecteur aux esp\u00e8ces invasives, leur permettant de parcourir de longues distances et de coloniser de nouveaux environnements. Une fois \u00e9tablies, les esp\u00e8ces envahissantes peuvent avoir des effets d\u00e9vastateurs sur les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes indig\u00e8nes, en supplantant les esp\u00e8ces indig\u00e8nes pour les ressources et en modifiant les habitats.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-47a2d1b elementor-section-height-min-height elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-items-middle\" data-id=\"47a2d1b\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0d39f05\" data-id=\"0d39f05\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e5de9d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e5de9d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">WHY DO THEY ATTACH ON MICROPLASTICS ? <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-f7c83bf elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f7c83bf\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-a3aeca9\" data-id=\"a3aeca9\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8828583 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8828583\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Le plastique est un vecteur potentiel de dispersion des esp\u00e8ces marines envahissantes, car il s&rsquo;agit du d\u00e9bris marin le plus courant et constitue 61 \u00e0 87 % de tous les types de d\u00e9bris marins et est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l&rsquo;une des principales menaces pour la biodiversit\u00e9 marine.[6] Selon un rapport de la base de donn\u00e9es <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/en\/about\/news\/press-releases\/2022\/02\/plastic-pollution-is-growing-relentlessly-as-waste-management-and-recycling-fall-short.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Plastics Outlook de l&rsquo;OCDE<\/a>, la production de plastique a augment\u00e9 de fa\u00e7on exponentielle au cours des 60 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, passant de 0,5 million de tonnes en 1960 \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de <a href=\"https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/plastic-pollution#how-much-plastic-does-the-world-produce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">460 millions de tonnes en 2019,<\/a> 10 % de la production de plastique \u00e9tant introduite dans les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins par des sources terrestres telles que les rivi\u00e8res, les \u00e9gouts pluviaux, le ruissellement urbain, les rejets d&rsquo;eaux us\u00e9es, les effluents des usines de fabrication de plastique, les d\u00e9charges ou les points de recyclage, les zones c\u00f4ti\u00e8res en raison de l&rsquo;action du vent et d&rsquo;autres activit\u00e9s humaines. De plus, la distribution mondiale, la flottabilit\u00e9 et les niveaux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de colonisation des d\u00e9bris plastiques facilitent grandement le transport des communaut\u00e9s microbiennes, des algues, des invert\u00e9br\u00e9s et des poissons vers des r\u00e9gions non indig\u00e8nes, causant des dommages \u00e9conomiques et \u00e9cologiques importants.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e78daae elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"e78daae\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f665ed4\" data-id=\"f665ed4\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-feb5ae6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"feb5ae6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Les caract\u00e9ristiques du plastique qui en font un vecteur de dispersion particuli\u00e8rement efficace pour les esp\u00e8ces marines comprennent sa persistance dans l&rsquo;environnement, sa flottabilit\u00e9 et sa diversit\u00e9 chimique. Cette persistance lui permet de rester longtemps dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an, offrant un substrat propice \u00e0 la colonisation d&rsquo;un large \u00e9ventail d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces macro et microscopiques. Sa flottabilit\u00e9 lui permet de flotter \u00e0 la surface de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an, augmentant ainsi son potentiel de dispersion sur de longues distances. De nombreuses esp\u00e8ces se sont attach\u00e9es aux mat\u00e9riaux plastiques, notamment une macrofaune potentiellement invasive, des micro-organismes toxiques et des agents pathog\u00e8nes. Certaines esp\u00e8ces, comme les arthropodes, les ann\u00e9lides et les mollusques, se sont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9es plus efficaces pour coloniser le plastique que les radeaux oc\u00e9aniques naturels.<\/p><p>Les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins du monde entier sont menac\u00e9s par plusieurs facteurs li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 humaine, tels que les invasions biologiques. Ces esp\u00e8ces sont transport\u00e9es par les d\u00e9bris plastiques sur de longues distances et ont \u00e9t\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9es sur des objets en plastique dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an et \u00e9chou\u00e9s sur les c\u00f4tes.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Elles sont capables de s&rsquo;installer et de se d\u00e9velopper rapidement dans de nouveaux environnements, ce qui a des impacts n\u00e9gatifs sur les esp\u00e8ces et les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes indig\u00e8nes. Les microplastiques (MP) et les nanoplastiques (NP) agissent comme vecteurs de dispersion des micro-organismes et des maladies associ\u00e9es dans les environnements marins. Les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques et la large distribution des plastiques offrent un habitat unique et stable aux micro-organismes, qui attirent les bact\u00e9ries, les virus, le plancton et d&rsquo;autres micro-organismes qui adh\u00e8rent \u00e0 leur surface, favorisant ainsi leur dispersion dans diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9gions oc\u00e9aniques.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>La pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;agents pathog\u00e8nes et d&rsquo;algues invasives a \u00e9t\u00e9 document\u00e9e dans les d\u00e9bris plastiques, qui peuvent envahir de nouveaux habitats et en modifier la structure, constituant ainsi une menace pour l&rsquo;\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me.
